J's Birthday 2010

My son turned 15 on July 1st!!!

J's birthday was during all of the floor refinishing and painting days so we just had a lunch with grandma and a little cake.

Later he took a couple of friends to some Pawn Shops as a day of fun. I never thought teens would think going to Pawn Shops was fun, but these guys sure like buying DVD's and video games.

J spent all of his money on DVD's and a Play Station 2. Before that he bought an XBOX 360. So Rock Band 2 is back in action at our house.

My Birthday April 12, 2010

So, I had a birthday a few weeks ago. Boy am I behind with my blog. I celebrated three times. Once on Easter with my family, once with my good friend from high school, and once with my immediate family. Now don't I feel special? Yes, I am blessed.

Thanking God for another year of life and lessons in His training camp. This year has been interesting and you've seen most of it through my blog. One lesson I've learned...Be as compassionate as you can possibly be. I lose sight of this sometimes.

So here's my birthday in the only pictures I have.

This would be my cup of cocoa at Mitzel's where I met my friend for breakfast.

Here we are with our meal. We meet here every year to celebrate both of our birthdays. We stay about 2 hours every time because we only see each other about twice a year. We met in 10th grade and we've been friends ever since.

The week after my birthday my immediate family took me to lunch at The Olive Garden. I don't eat these peppers, but I did taste it.

Here's my favorite salad. And of course the breadsticks are awesome.

This was my meal. It was steak and noodles and cheese. I can't remember the name of it now, but it was good and brought most of it home. Since I ate so much salad and breadsticks I was almost full by the time my food came. I think they plan it that way. Next time I'm starting with dessert and bringing home the meal.

Our Baby Turns 13!!!!

The happy party goers. Two friends from church and one from school. The two boys chickened out. Just kidding, I understand they had "previous commitments."

H loves to sing. She sings in her room all the time. Her friends weren't as excited about it, but most did join in. They were precious and not little girls anymore. Boo Hoo!

Can you guess what song they're singing? The lady on the right is Debbie, never mind her "C" is backwards, LOL! She was kind enough to provide us with the Karaoke. She's very organized and kept us singing for quite awhile. It was really fun.

H in her comfort zone. She can go far away in her music. She gets into it and doesn't even hear us when we summon her from her room. I guess that's typical of many teens.

Two mom's, and friends of mine via our daughters, stayed and sang and joined in the ice breaker games we did.

We had some food. Can you tell what my daughter's favorite color is? She wears it every day.

Time for gifts.

A sketch book. H also loves to draw characters. Her school friend knows this. H draws during every spare moment at school I understand. Thus a sketch pad was the gift her friend brought as well as pens and colored pencils.

A serious look at "13". I wonder if she changed her mind about wanting to be 13?

Good bye 12. It's official, the candles have been blown out. H is "13". Mama Mia, I have two teens now!!

Very cute cake and very good. She was happy because her birthday fell on a Tuesday and her dad works swing shift so there wasn't really a family party. Her big brother and I celebrated with her that day.


Oh yes, it was very good!

It was gone by the next day. Isn't it just so cute? I love it.

Her girlfriend party was two weeks later. I'll have pictures posted soon. We did Karaoke. What fun we had.

My Hubs' 51st Birthday Celebration

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUBBY!
My hubs turned 51 last week. He celebrated by going to an Ice Hockey game at our new arena in town. We gave him a few gifts and were planning to go out to eat after church last Sunday, but he was sick. We'll find a date to go out for lunch sometime soon I hope.

Jack is always helpful at opening the gifts (not). He just loves the paper and gift bags.

First Birthday Party With New Friends From School

My Daughter went to her first birthday party with girlfriends she just met this year at school. The birthday girl turned fourteen. The girls all met at her house. They gave each other manicures and the dad cooked everyone burgers then they went to the skating rink. I met them at the rink to get a few pictures.

Here the girls are when I dropped H off at 3:00pm. H is on the right and the birthday girl is next to her sticking her tongue out. Sweet girls.

The skating rink was packed. I think because it was a holiday weekend and it was raining of course.

An 80's Birthday Party

Gosh the 80's were bright! NEON, baby!! I was in my twenties and I didn't wear quite so bright outfits as these birthday girls did. We had fun tonight celebrating birthdays for three girls from our church. The youngest turned 18 today. She obviously was not born in the 80's, but she dressed the part. Alright, here we go...

Here they are from left to right. Ashly, the 18 year old; Jenny, my Letterboxing teacher; and Rhonda a mom who blogs at have2havehumor.

Here are some of the leggings and shoes. It's a little dark, but I think you get the idea.

What better to celebrate with than a "HOT PINK" cake. Ashly's mom made it and it was good.

The inside was Neapolitan, Mmmm Mmmm good! I love her cakes.

You know the "Preppie" on the right. That's Nan at Momstheword. She's with Kaytee who also has a blog or two. Kaytee is also 18 and going off to college this fall. Nan jokes about going with her in one of her suit cases.

We ate some BBQ, had some cake and listened to music from the eighties. We also remembered movies that we enjoyed or were forbidden to see. It was a great time and the little kids liked it too. Some of the guys even dressed up a little. I was a party pooper, but I still had fun.

"Every party has a pooper that's why we invited you, party pooper, party pooper, that's you" Just thought I'd throw that in there. Take care.

A Walk Down Memory Lane, August 12, 2009

I like to try and join Erica at Scottsville every Wednesday for a walk down memory lane. This week I have another old picture of me from the 60's. Some of my followers and lurking, beloved, friends can rememebr the 60's. Those were the days my friends.

I'm quite sure this is my fifth birthday. I also believe my mom made this cake with the doll in it. I also think this is when I received my first and only Barbie Doll. You know, the one with the black and white striped bathing suit? I believe that was the first Barbie that was sold. Correct me if I'm wrong. Hope might know.

I just saw a picture on Amy's blog In Search of Normal yesterday of her daughter, Padme, who just had her fifth birthday and she had the doll cake. It reminded me of mine many years ago. Some cool things never die. (the cake idea, not me. LOL!)

So there it is, another quick trip down memory lane. I hope you enjoyed it.

My Dad's 88th Birthday

Last Sunday we celebrated dad's 88th birthday. It is amazing to me that we've been blessed to have our parents with us for so long. God knew some of us needed more time to appreciate them for all they've done for us.

I think that since I wasn't a believer until I was thirty, it took me longer to appreciate my folks. I'm glad God gave me these years to grow up and learn to love and appreciate my dear parents. I digress, but for good reason.

We went to an Asian restaurant that my parents like and go to often called Wendy's Two. We ordered several types of food. It seems like I was eating for a long time. I like the food there too.


We have our food and are passing things on the lazy susan thing in the middle.

Dad opened some gifts. He has some books to read and look at now. He loves reading, but his vision is bad so he uses a magnifier now.




We gave him a book about the places in the Bible. There are a lot of pictures which should make the reading easier.




This is what is left of the fruit tart. It was so good. It was very good!
