Our Ninth Letter Box July 18, 2009

This is a continuation of Letterboxing The Third Time which
I posted on July 19. We went from one park to the next.

We are so blessed to have so many nice parks around here. The first park had a pond and this one is on the bay. It was such a beautiful day for hiking an easy trail or two, so we did.

At the parking lot were these beauties.

Then we found some sticks and headed up the trail.

My son read the clues. Hey, did you notice he has gotten a haircut? I like it that way.

Here's my daughter and I standing under the road. Well it's a bridge. Nan, from momstheword lives pretty close to this park.

These pictures explain themselves. Beautiful area to hike.

I had to take pictures of this nurse stump. This is the bottom.

This is a little further up. Looking rather holey and weak to me.

Here's the beginning of another tree that must be ten or twenty years old. I can't believe it's still upright.

And there it grows right up to the sky. Amazing!

For those folks who leave home with their little doggie and forget the poop scoop bag...this one's for you. Glad we saw it before we stepped in it. I love dogs, but prefer that they have responsible pet owners.

Then there's God's creation that imitates poop. Yuck! LOL, actually this is prettier than poop if you like nature enough.

Then we have our banana version. Some can be very long and oh so oohey goohey. Ugh!

Moving on to the actual letterbox. I took my stick to smush down stickery things and saw the piece of bark that looked like it didn't belong. I lifted it up and there was our 9th letterbox.

I'm bringing it back to the path. It's cool how people use all kinds of camouflage tape to disguise their letterboxes. This one looked like leaves.

I sustained a horrible injury!! LOL, not really.

We came back down the trail after hiking a little further for the fun of it and the kids went to the car to rest. I went to the beach to take pictures.

There's always a shoe or two on the beach. Someone was kind enough to put this one at the beach head on a stump in case the owner returned for it.

There was a birthday party across the creek. There were a lot of people at the park on this day. Look at how dry the grass is. We are having one dry summer.

A bridge across the creek.

The birthday kids were playing in the creek. It smelled bad and there was lot's of seaweed, but they didn't mind.

Peaceful sailboat waiting for it's owners to come and take it for a sail.

Every beach needs a snack bar with overpriced treats and snacks. This snack bar is very old. A historical monument...just kidding!

And lastly was this great little garden planted in an old dry hunk of log. What a great idea! Who'd a thunk?

If I Were A Flower

If I were a flower what kind would I be? I think about flowers a lot. They are so beautiful and so intricately created by God and each one is so different.

I love them in yards and if they would last forever I would have a vase or two in my house at all times. I won't turn down a bouquet or a dandelion, but I prefer flowers in their natural state.

One of the first dates my husband took me on was to the Botanic Gardens. We walked for hours and talked about all kinds of stuff. Those were the days. The azaleas and Rhodie's were beautiful and huge. There were daffodils, Lillie's and ponds with plants in and around them. What a beautiful memory. Thank you, God for your creation.

So what would I be? A daisy or a bunch of daisies?

The daisy is so simple, yet so beautiful and perfect looking. They were at their best on the 4th of July this year. But you know what?...They stink! I couldn't believe had bad they smell. Oh well, they are still pretty.

I don't know the names of these little cuties, but they are hiding in the sand dunes by the ocean in tall grass. How perfect for me, by the ocean. So small no one will bother them except some cute little kids might pick them.

I think these are snapdragons. Kids like to pick these and use them
as finger puppets. At least I did. They fit perfect on two
fingertips and they look like a little mouth. God has a
sense of humor to create a finger puppet.

Then there's this guy. He just looks luscious and green and delicate all year long. I like that idea.

I think I'd like to be this beautiful and live amongst the other bedding plants. I'd love to be purple too. Look at the cute little face!

Or I could be a huge bush covered with little purple pom poms. I'd have to like bees buzzing around me a lot. Of course the bees wouldn't sting me so that'd be okay. Just sit there looking gorgeous all day. People stopping to look at me and take my picture. Hummm.... stardom sounds good.

Most of all I would want to be this bleeding heart bush. How utterly perfect to be covered with perfect hearts. Representing love. God's love for us. Our love for Him and others. The PERFECT plant to be.

"For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes
in Him shall have everlasting life." John 3:16

Flowers 2009

I love color and God gives us so much brilliant color in
flowers, bushes and trees.

These pictures are of some of my flowers in my yard and some
are from a friend's yard. ENJOY!

This is one of my a most absolutely favorite blooming bushes. I call it "Bleeding Heart". It blooms early and doesn't stay long enough for me. I love it. Thank you God.

Another favorite because I can usually keep them alive and blooming for a long time. And they come in so many colors. The Pansie.

These are so cute. I think they are a Pansie also. I'm such a novice, but I love flowers.

Here are some pictures from my friend's yard (she's my friend's sister-in-law really). This yard is so friendly and inviting. You can look for hours and sit and ponder in several places.

It has taken years of pampering, but my friend seems to have the gift for it. I hope to use some of her ideas.

This is a real flower. I believe it is the Climatis. Purple is one of my faves.

This Golden Chain tree is one of many in the yard. The sky was so blue that day. It was so beautiful.

It speaks for itself. Ahhhhh! I want one! And some ice tea, please.

Talk about a Fern!! Wow!!!

This area was a place to sit under cover and read, nap, have a hot or cold beverage, or write. A very relaxing nook, even in the rain.

I love the garden gate and the cute fountain. There was even a street style lamp in there. Lot's of green. Very comforting.

Here I am enjoying one of the many sitting areas. What an awesome garden visit.
