Listen & Look

This is my hubs looking through the garbage last weekend. Why is he looking in the garbage? Did Nannette lose a diamond ear ring? Heck no, she doesn't even have diamond ear rings. Why would he look so desperately through the garbage?

Why has my son joined my hubs by the garbage can now? Why are there bags of garbage lined up on the neighbor's hedge? I bet our neighbor was wondering too.

What is my son doing, sniffing the recycle bin? No, he's listening, yes listening. You see, we kept hearing a beeping sound every time we went outside last Saturday. We went outside together to find out where the beeping was coming from. We narrowed it down to the garbage can or recycle bin.

So one by one my hubs pulled out the bags and searched for the thing that beeped. FYI: We have a garbage disposal so our garbage isn't too gooey or smelly and my hubs works in a meat production plant so he's used to gross, smelly stuff.

Guess what? We never found the thing that beeped. But when the guys headed inside I was standing by our winterized pop-up camper and I heard the beep.

It must have been something in the pop-up I thought. So my hubs listened and agreed. He went over to the cord he had unplugged back in December when he put the Christmas lights up, plugged it in and the beeping stopped.

Apparently the battery for a sensor inside the pop-up had gone dead while the camper was unplugged and the beeping was to let us know that it needs a new battery.
Mystery solved!LOL!

Have a great week everyone!

First Birthday Party With New Friends From School

My Daughter went to her first birthday party with girlfriends she just met this year at school. The birthday girl turned fourteen. The girls all met at her house. They gave each other manicures and the dad cooked everyone burgers then they went to the skating rink. I met them at the rink to get a few pictures.

Here the girls are when I dropped H off at 3:00pm. H is on the right and the birthday girl is next to her sticking her tongue out. Sweet girls.

The skating rink was packed. I think because it was a holiday weekend and it was raining of course.

There is H and the birthday girl waving at me from the left middle of the picture. Blue top on one, blue pants on the other.

H posed for me.

Birthday girl on the left, her brother in the middle and H on the right. They're all in the same seventh grade class at school.

H and the birthday girl. I believe they had a good time. It's nice to know your kids have nice friends. It's a good feeling.

New Years Eve 2009-2010

Each year at our church we have a worship time and then we play games and eat massive quantities of food for New Years Eve. We watch the local Tv programing and shout happy new year at midnight. It's lot's of fun and it's an opportunity for us to actually visit with each other.

Quite often we are so busy on Sundays helping and going to classes and all that we don't get to visit with a lot of the people that we go to church with. So here we are playing games, laughing, eating, visiting and the teens and pre-teens hang out and goof off.

Some teens, young adults and Jenny (the young at heart). My hubs is on the right at another table.

Playing a game and taking care of baby. Of course the babies go around & around from person to person until they're completely overwhelmed. I got to hold this little one about 3 or 4 times. He smelled like baby shampoo and he was sweet as honey.

Sweet sisters and one hubby.

Two of our worship team members. The singing and music was so wonderful this night. It was really nice because we sang for over an hour. On Sundays we don't get that much time, understandably. My throat was scratchy when we finished. But it was worth it.

I'll say it again...do ya think we had enough food? I've been saying that at every party and dinner I've been to.

You know Nan in the red hoodie from momstheword. If not, she is responsible for getting me into blogging. She's also my pastor's wife and my son's, friend's mom. If that makes any sense to you.

My daughter & her friend saying "Happy New Year".

Some of the teens and pre-teens. My daughter is in the blue and yellow T-shirt.

One more teen. Today is his birthday. This is Jenny's son.

Now, this is my hubs a couple days later after taking down and storing the Christmas decorations. Happy New Year hubby. You did a great job as usual.

Christmas Day 2009

It's Christmas morning and we're about to begin the chaos and fun.

Everyone wants to get in on the fun

My daughter made this candle holder for me. It's tissue paper over a vase. It looks very nice today as the candle glows from inside.

I received a lot of nice gifts from friends and family.

My BIL and SIL. They left for Paris the next day. What a nice way to end the year.

My husband is cutting the prime rib and my SIL is making some awesome gravy for her garlic potatoes and the prime rib.

First time my husband has ever cooked prime rib. We may make it a Christmas tradition.

My MIL bringing some bread to the kitchen.

Here's everyone for Christmas dinner. We had an abundance of food and everything was so good. See the three guys at the end of the table? Do they resemble each other or what?

Now on to round three of gift opening. Gift cards are quite nice for teens. I like them too.

That is our Christmas. Now on to the New Year.

God has been good to us and we look forward to whatever He has in store for us. God bless you and yours in 2010.
