Do You Know Your SSN?

I'm not sure what to write tonight. I've been so busy trying to get things done so I can move on to bigger things to get done.

Found out today that I need my social security card. If I get a job the employer needs a copy of it so the IRS can get paid I can get paid.

My card was stolen years ago, along with my whole purse and it's contents, from a local fast food place. I forgot it and when I returned to get it, it was gone.

Within 2 hours someone had tried to write some checks. Someone else found my check book at the side of the road and called us. I think my license was with it. Everything else was gone.

All that to say, I didn't replace the card because I have my SSN memorized. It will take ten to 14 days to get a replacement. Just one more thing to slow me down in my job hunt. I'm sure learning a lot.

So tomorrow, it's off to the the SSN office with birth certificate in hand to prove that I'm me. Funny thing is my feet have grown so much since they took those prints. I don't know how they'll know it's me HA!

Also, I haven't had a resume written in many years, so I'll try to get that done this week too. It's funny I hadn't thought of these things. I'm so out of touch it's unbelievable.

The applications I've been filling out on line hadn't required the resume and cover letter or mentioned my SS card. I just recently started another application that required these. I am surely experiencing the real world now.

I guess it just won't be going as fast as I thought it would. I'll learn patience too as I continue on my merry job hunting way. It'll be okay if I don't go to work right away. It'll be an easier transition for the kids going to school. Easier for me. I don't know about them.

Ah yes, life is full of fun surprises.

  1. Job hunting is always fun...so much to have along with the applications. ugh. Good luck. I too have my SSN memorized...but have my card too. I dont carry it with me. It stays at home with my kids cards in a semi safe place. :) I had my purse stolen and people writing checks too. They had a pizza party on me. Big fun.

  2. Remember: GOD's timing is perfect.

I found out yesterday: In Virginia, if you get a drivers license or photo ID, it is now "mailed" to you and takes 7-10 days. This is new and said to be a security measure!

We all must definately plan ahead. Blessings and prayers, andrea

  3. Ahhh the RESUME. That's gonna be FUN. I have kept mine up over the years and worked from home enough that even in the 10 years that I was a SAHM, I still had stuff to go on my resume.

At least you have some 'time' (due to your SS card wait) to get your resume all up to speed. =0)

    Best of luck!

  4. Wow. I'd freak out if somebody stole my purse, lol! Looking for a job is a job, isn't it? BTW, Linda got that part-time job she wanted and the Lord will provide for you too.

It might be an easier transition for the kids that first week if you're home instead of at work, but the Lord knows what's best. Missed you last night!

  7. Keep on keeping on!
Take this time to learn about other offices when you visit them.
See what you like about them and don't like.
    Use this oppertunity to grow.

Just to let you know, in our school district, we hire more people after the "Official Count", which is Oct. 1st. That's when the our state knows how many students are in a building.
If there are more then expected, they hire more help.

    Praying for you!
